Do you ever wonder why so many photographers talk about “passion” on their websites or facebook pages? I think it’s the amazing feeling we get making someone else feel like a million bucks. When you make someone else feel beautiful, or special, or important… when I’m doing a photo shoot, there is nothing else more important in the world, in that moment than the person I’m photographing. And it’s amazing! I think we all share that as human beings, and photographers have found a good way to actually get to do that on a daily basis. It’s wonderful! But it’s not enough to make you a true professional.
If every photographer has passion for their craft, then why are there so many horrible photographers out there these days? It’s because to be great at your craft, it takes more than passion and the love of serving others. It takes a commitment that a part timer just can’t give. It takes sacrifice, both in time and money. It takes humility to see that you are not the best and the drive and determination to become the best. And it takes God given talent.
I hope you choose Mike Turner Photography for your senior pictures. We offer some of the most unique options in the state for our photo shoots, and we make a REAL effort to make your images different than your friends who come here. I actually review your friends pictures before your shoot to make sure I do something different with you… You don’t want the same images as your friends, and it’s as important to me as it is to you! My philosophy on retouching is this: I want you to look amazing! But I don’t want you to look fake. I think many photographers overcook the retouching and you end up with images that look plastic, with fake looking eyes. MY goal is that your friends think “Wow you look amazing” not “this doesn’t even look like you.”
This really is an important milestone in your life. if your pictures are bad with poor lighting and posing, that makes you look bad, and you will be embarrassed by them. you will not get them out as time goes by. If they’re just ok, you’ll get them out less and less. But if they’re great…
